My Birthday Mini Staycation at The Suite in Rosemary Hill Farm
Bae took me to Rosemary Hill Farm in Pretoria for my birthday, which was a surprise, a beautiful surprise. Last year we did The Blyde in Pretoria, and I must say, it just keeps getting better.
My birthday was on the 9th of August, and I must say, I have never been one to celebrate birthdays, until I met the love of my life back in 2020 during lockdown.
The weekend leading to my birthday, my partner became very sneaky, I could tell something was up, but she wouldn’t tell me what was going on or where we were potentially going. She started the birthday celebrations on the Saturday, when she took me to a whisky tasting experience in Fourways.
The day before my birthday, she told me to pack a bag, that we were taking a shot left. As we drove, I had my suspicions, and it became very obvious where we were going as we got closer and closer to the place. She was taking me to Rosemary Hill Farm and I couldn’t be happier.
The Suite at Rosemary Hill Farm
We arrived at Rosemary Hill just after 16h00 pm, excited for the experience. If you have experienced Rosemary Hill, you understand why we were excited, and if you have not, you need to put it in your bucket list, asap.
We previoulsy stayed at Rosemary Hill, at the cabin, the studios, the dorms (with a group of ladies) and now, we were excited to experience Room 7 at the Guesthouse, called The Suite.
One of the first things that we noticed about The Suite was how beautiful it was. As soon as we walked in, we couldn’t help but notice the decor in the lounge. The lounge is beautiful, spacious and the perfect space to relax and unwind.
And then there was the bedroom of course!
The bedroom has a king-size four poster bed, a cosy fireplace directly opposite the bed as well as a beautiful free-standing bath that is overlooking the garden. The bedroom looked stunning . . . everything just seemed perfect!
The Suite is a self catering unit, with a kitchennette that has everything that we needed to make our meals.
We got comfortable and as the sun set and the temperature dropped, it was time to get the fire going. We had everything we needed . . . wood, firelighters, and matches.
Once we got the fire burning to warm up the place, it was time to eat, and we popped some champagne to relax. The plan was to hang out, and do the countdown till my birthday, but it wasn’t to be. We did enjoy an indoor picnic by the fireplace, as we chatted away and reminisced about us, and our journey.
The following day, we had to take advantage of the bathtub overlooking the garden, and that’s exactly what we did. It’s difficult to put into words just how beautiful the experience was, we thoroughly enjoyed the bathtub, and having it overlooking the garden made the experience even more beautiful.
Again, champagne was flowing and we made the most of everything.
Food: Rosemary Hill Farm
There are 2 restaurants at Rosemary Hill, the Rosemary Hill Restaurant and the Greenhouse Cafe, and I love that when you book, breakfast is included, which made things way easier for us.
On my birthday, I ordered the Waffle Eggs Benedict- their bestseller and it makes sense why. It is sweet corn, cheese & chives waffle with poached eggs, streaky bacon, potato rosti with Hollandaise Sauce & sliced leeks. It was super delicious!!
Bae ordered the Farmers Fry Up – two fried eggs, a grilled thin beef boerewors, mushrooms, streaky bacon, cherry tomatoes and homemade ciabatta. It also was delicious and filling!
For dinner, we tried the Braised Beef Rib – red wine & plum braised beef rib served with creamy parmesan polenta, baby root vegetables & herbed gremolata (garnished with finely sliced mushrooms.
Bae actually wanted to do date night at the Greenhouse Cafe, unfortunately it was closed because my birthday was on a holiday.
On Day 2, I ordered the Club Sandwich and bae ordered the French Toasted Croissant.
All I can say, is that the food at Rosemary Hill is good, and super affordable!!
Final Thoughts
My birthday was amazing, bae went all out to make my day super special, and all I can say is how blessed I am to have this woman in my life.
I had a blast, we connected in a way we hadn’t in a while and we had a chance to just relax and have fun.
Rosemary Hill Farm was the perfect spot for this . . . 2 days of absolute bliss and we enjoyed everything!
