The Cabin Experience at Rosemary Hill Farm

The Cabin at Rosemary Hill Farm

The gorgeous Rosemary Hill is the dream location in Pretoria (Gauteng) for any content creator. We are talking picture perfect landscapes, serene dams, gorgeous gardens and so much more. This breath-taking farm in the East of Pretoria is the best spot for a romantic, family or friend staycation. And there’s soo much to do, the word boredom wouldn’t even exist.

It is very popular so we would advise that you book midweek stays if possible because most weekends are fully booked….unless you reserve well in advance. Well, that is what we did, we stayed there during the week and we loved it.

We enjoyed  our 2 nights in Cabin-ville, staying at “The Cabin”. Ohh my goodness, it is just beautiful. So, the day before check-in we received all the details such as directions and check in instructions. When we arrived, we were met by a lovely guard who politely requested for our names, when we told him our names (which were on the list) he showed us
to the parking and directed us to the Restaurant to collect our keys.

That too was seamless as they were expecting us. The Restaurant is very lovely and inviting. You can either be outside if you enjoy sipping your coffee whilst taking in some vitamin D from the sun or cozy it up inside and enjoy the fireplace with your meal.

The Cabin at Rosemary Hill

We got our keys and were directed to our cabin ( a double  storey unit), which was just a short drive from the restaurant. Now, the good stuff…..as we walk into the cabin you are welcomed by this beautiful scent that just hugs you, you can’t help but feel at home. The cabin is so uniquely built with it’s triangle structure that is worthy of a photo moment. Inside is a cute kitchenette with all the amenities you could need for your stay (including a mini fridge, a gas stove, all the crockery, pots, a kettle, cutlery, stove and just basically everything you need to make your stay a lovely one),  open plan dining area with a cozy couch and décor that is just pleasing to the eye…the dining area leads you to the deck which the most gorgeous view of the dam.

Just as you think you are in paradise, you go upstairs to be met by the prettiest bedroom with the famous “Chill net / Sun Bed” where Bae and I enjoyed both sunrises and sunsets and some lazing around. All we wanted to do was to just relax and take in the tranquility and we did just that. We mixed our gin cocktails, slid open the glass sliding door and spent the afternoon on the deck viewing the stunning dam and picture perfect green stretch of land.

The cabin at Rosemary Hill is also equipped with a toilet and a shower downstairs, and has a bathtub across from the bed upstairs, where you can relax over a bath and some wine.

We decided to have a romantic dinner in the cabin, so we took a stroll to the restaurant to collect our dinner and came back and had a candle lit dinner indoors. The large bath tub upstairs was calling my name and I had to answer to it. A glass of merlot and me soaking inside that tub was just what I needed to end off an amazing day.

In the morning we had the best view from our cabin “Chill net” capturing the beautiful sunrise whilst sipping on some rooibos tea and munching on the best rusks in the entire world “yes, entire world”. We then headed to breakfast which was so scenic, and their food is always just so delicious.

Things to do at Rosemary Hill

Segway Tour

Rosemary Hill is an all in one staycation farm with a lot of activities to boost, so there’s a ot to choose from.

We had our Segway tour booked for the morning and it was just amazing. Just cruising through the farm and exploring it in that way was so cool. Getting to see the ruins, other accommodation offerings and so much more. Getting to know a bit of Rosemary history and how that have transformed the space into what it is and continue to empower so many people from the community is incredible.

The Maze

We took a stroll through the maze, and fell in love. We also decided that it would be an amazing spot for a picnic, so we set that up very quickly, and I must say, it was one of the best decisions that we made. The weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed our picnic surrounded by beautiful trees, plants and the beautiful garden.

Horse Riding

We also got to do a bit of horse riding and that was a lovely way to explore the farm in that way. Bae loves riding horses, while I am a little scared of them (I think it’s the falling that scares me), the experience is always lovely when I do do it.

Dining

Food is part of any staycation, and I must say, Rosemary Hill didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner prepared at the restuarant, and we enjoyed both the food and the presentation.

Our favourite thing to do was to chill by the deck overlooking the dam, or by the chill net. The views from the cabin are stunning, and can never get old.

We are just obsessed with the property and would love to go back again to experience the Cove and the Huddle. Rosemary Hill is a definite must experience, it’s not just an insanely beautiful farm but the warmness and friendliness from the staff makes your stay even that much better. For a shot left outside of the city, it definiely ticks all the boxes and makes for a great getaway.
