Kings Kloof Hiking Trail – We hiked the Kings Kloof Trail in Muldersdrift

Sundays are for . . . relaxation, self care and for us, being outdoors!

If you love the outdoors and hiking, then taking a quick shotleft to Kings Kloof Reserve is a great idea to start the week right. Kings Kloof is in the Muldersdrift area, a mere 30 minutes from Sandton, and it’s situated at the Laurentia Farm .

They have a couple of hiking trails for you to try out, starting from easy to challenging, which would be the black trail, which is for the super fit.

It costs R50 per person, after paying for the hike, we went to their shop to get some water and a chocolate, just for boosts of energy if we needed it during the hike, then we were off.

Hiking the Kings Kloof Hiking Trail, Muldersdrift

For this hike, we left super early so we could get there early enough before the sun started scorching. We arrived just after 7 am, and the weather was pretty amazing.

We enquired about the trails, and shared that we were not fit, and that we wanted to do a trail that wasn’t super challenging. They advised us to do the yellow trail, which would lead us to the waterfall, and then do blue trail from the waterfall.

Kings Kloof is beautiful,  filled with beautiful scenery, and the river streams and the dam. And of course, they have that beautiful waterfall to marvel at. The waterfall is incredible, and makes the hike super worth it.

Hiking is just beautiful, there’s nothing better than being surrounded by nature, and hearing streams of water in the background. I loved that they have a chicken run, which you can opt for when the trail starts getting difficult for you, or if you feel you cannot tackle it any longer.

After the hike, we were exhausted and hungry. We were ready to grab a bite, and we decided to try out their restaurant. We opted for a pizza and some soft drinks, overlooking the dam, which was refreshing.

Kings Kloof Trail Entrance and Open times: The Kings Kloof Trails only open on the weekends and public holidays, and they open from 05:30 in the morning. Entrance to the trails R50 per person and  you don’t need to make a booking.
