Igadi House – A Look into Cape Town’s Newest Boutique Hotel

A historic property from the 19th century has been converted into a luxurious boutique hotel right in the Mother City. Learn more about this chic, Mod-Victorian hotel with stunning views of Cape Town.

Recently, a spectacular Cape Town property that has been elegantly transformed into a boutique hotel opened its doors to visitors that are looking for the perfect hotel, at the perfect location. iGadi House is quickly rising to the top of the list of the city’s preferred luxury hotel alternatives because of its ideal location, which is between Table Mountain and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, and in close proximity to Kloof Street.

If you don’t know Kloof Street, it earned a spot on Time Out’s shortlist of the world’s “coolest streets” in 2022, and Igadi (meaning garden in Xhosa) House is right there, not even a stone’s throw away from this street . Visitors get to experience Kloof Street, with its amazing dining establishments, cocktail bars, beautiful fashion boutiques, and magnificent views of Table Mountain.

There’s more . . . iGadi House has 10 exquisitely furnished rooms, where guests can enjoy breathtaking views of not just Table Mountain, but Lion’s Head and Signal Hill as well. A good night’s sleep is guaranteed, starting with the luxurious and comfortable bedlinen, to their generously sized mattresses, to their stunning bathrooms . . . everything about the rooms is geared at giving visitors an opulent comfortable experience.

iGadi House

While iGadi House was a 19th Century property that got transformed, the building’s unique features and architecture were kept, to give this boutique hotel a contemporary look with a touch of vintage charm. These include the historical features like the beams, the windows and the lofty ceilings.

The breakfast area is stunning, and one of the first things that stands out is the teal velvet seats, which draws attention to the stunning artwork above it. Also, it would be hard to miss the huge and beautiful painting of the swan on the wall.

iGadi House also has a library, adorned with royal blue walls and African-inspired accents. It is said to be one of the best places to unwind with a drink, especially after a long day.

iGadi House: How it all Began

Owner Cecile Bouquillion was born in France, and she visited Cape Town for the first time in 2008. Like many of us, it left a huge impression on her.

Fast forward to many years later, according to Aspire Lifestyle, Cecile “followed her heart back to South Africa and bought this beautifully preserved heritage residence in the upmarket Gardens suburb of Cape Town”. The rest as they say is history.

The iGadi House was opened in December 2022 to the delight of the guests and those looking for a luxe boutique hotel at the perfect location.
