Dining at Surfshack Restaurant in Camps Bay

Our Dining Experience at Surfshack Seaside Diner in Camps Bay

We did Camps Bay for my baby’s birthday  . . . we fell in love with the location back in 2021 when we went there, and of course it is the place where I proposed! So we decided that we had to go back!

Surfshack is also the first place that we chose for our first meal in the Mother City and I must say it is one of the best decisions that we made.

We absolutely fell in love with Surfshack . . . who wouldn’t with that location.

Surfshack Restaurant: First Impressions

Surfshack Restaurant  is on the golden mile in Camps Bay, directly above Paranga and the best part is the view. It overlooks the ocean, so you can imagine just how stunning the sunsets are from there.

When we got there, we were met by a very friendly waitress, who seated us to our table, which took a bit of time, as we were unsure where we wanted to sit. We obviously wanted the best seat with the best view of the ocean and we finally decided to sit by the corner, with the full view of the beach.

We didn’t have a booking, but we managed to sit by the deck, probably because it was midweek when we tried it out, so it wasn’t as packed.

We loved the stylish decor, and when you add the vibe, it really was the perfect spot.

Let me make it perfectly clear, there is nothing shack anything about Surfshack, it’s an upmarket place with a killer view, and their prices are also on the steep side, after all it’s in Camps Bay.

Surfshack Restaurant : The Food & Drinks

We ordered our cocktails . . . I ordered a Long Island Ice tea, and my bae ordered a mojito with a twist: it was infused with a Corona beer! She loves a dope mojito, so it was no brainer that she ordered a Corojito!

Once we had decided on what to eat, we ordered their chicken and avo pizza, as well as the sweet sticky bourbon barbecue chicken wings and chips. As I mentioned earlier, you need to have a proper budget when you do Surfshack, so we decided to keep our food affordable.

As we waited for our food and enjoying our cocktails, we were enjoying the views of the beach and the ocean as well, and we were eagerly awaiting the sunset.

Our food didn’t take long to be brought to us, and we were starving. The food was good, the pizza surprised me the most as it tasted really good. We enjoyed the ambiance and the space so much, that we ended up ordering more drinks, hung out a bit longer and watch the sunset from the deck.

While we ate, our waiter brought out what I like calling it magic wipes . . . a holder disc type of object, with two white compressed cloths, which expand and turn into wet wipes when dipped into the liquid. This was a super nice touch,  as I had not seen this before.

We didn’t do dessert (tight budget) but we also were happy just sipping away and taking in more of the views.

Surfshack Restaurant: Final Thoughts

All I can say is WOW . . . we had a great experience at Surfshack Seaside Diner . Not only was the place modern, vibey and beautiful, the waiters were polite and friendly, and the food was a plus!

Will definitely go back the next time we are in Camps Bay  . . . and I would highly recommend this gem!

And I have to say this again . . . the views from the deck is breathtaking!!

Surfshack is great for tourists, but for SAns, you need to have a proper budget to fully enjoy the experience.
