Camps Bay: Staycation at Stone Cottages & Birthday Celebrations
March is a great month for me . . . it’s my bae’s birthday month on the 13th, and she shares a month with my nephew and my dad! And she’s such a birthday person, so we totally celebrate birthdays, and the plan was to do Cape Town because we love the city. After all, it’s the city where we got engaged in 2021 after a year of dating.
We flew out of Johannesburg on the 16th of March, through Lift Airlines and it was both our first time using Lift, and we were pretty impressed. The experience was great and we got to Cape Town early, fresh and excited.
When we travel, we usually use Uber or Bolt, but this time, we had decided we needed to try a service that we had not tried before: inDriver. We wanted to try it out and see how the experience would be to kind of set your own prices and find a driver that way, and I must say, the experience was pretty pleasant. The platform was easy to use and we got a driver right away.
After getting our driver to come to pick us up at Cape Town International Airport, he took us to Stone Cottages in Camps Bay (which is about 24 kilometres from Cape Town International) where we had booked for 2 days, and so the adventure began. The accommodation was cute, very economic, safe and clean, very close to the beach, and all the beautiful restaurants overlooking the beach and it had a pool and a chill area. The shops were also very close . . . so it was very convenient for us.
Best of all, Stone Cottages is self catering which was a bonus because we could prepare our own meals, which we absolutely love to do!
We had left Johannesburg very early in the morning, and the croissants that we got served in the plane were wearing off, so we needed to grab a bite before heading to the beach.
If you have been to Camps Bay, you will know that it’s a proper place for the well off, so the chances of finding a cheap takeaway spot was almost zero, so we decided to head on over to Surfshack Seaside Diner . . . . to have a first taste of Camps Bay food and relaxation.
The weather was amazing, and the vibe at Surfshack was beautiful, vibey and vibrant. The view was breathtaking, like a dream really! We were greeted by a very friendly waiter, and got ushered to our table overlooking the ocean! We then ordered cocktails, and proceeded to order their chicken pizza, wings and chips! (Read our full experience of Surfshack Seaside Diner here).
After eating, it was time to hit the beach . . . something we had been dreaming about for a while. Armed with our phones, gimbal and beach gear, we were ready to relax and get in bits and pieces of content creation. We got there, found a cute spot and started setting up. Wow . . . it was exactly what we needed!
And of course time just flies when you are having fun. That’s when we decided that we needed some sips for the night, and as we were going back to our cute apartment at Stone Cottages, we found out that there’s no place that sells alcohol in Camps Bay. What a rude awakening!
We quickly made plans to get some sips, and got an Uber to Seapoint, and made it back in time to relax, enjoy our left over food from Surfshack and called it a night. It was an amazing first day in Camps bay, and the next day, we had plans to shoot for content and enjoy the beach fully. The plan was to have a full day of fun and content creation, so we needed to rest!
The next day, we woke up bright and early to watch the sunrise at the beach, something that we had been wanting to do for while. After watching the sunset, we went back to our apartment for breakfast, to refresh and prepare for the day.
Around 11, we had our beach bag ready, and we were ready to have a full day just lounging at the beach. When we got to the beach, we hired an umbrella for R50 for the day, we picked our cute spot and we had an amazing couple of hours.
We didn’t just enjoy the beach, we had somethings in our bucket list that we planned on doing. Some of what we got up to in Cape Town include Wine Tasting in Groot Constantia and Quad Biking in the Atlantis Dunes.
All I have to say is that Camps Bay rocks, and after our 2 day stay at Stone Cottages, it was time to move closer to the V&A Waterfront, to Rockwell Luxury Apartments!
The adventure continued!
