Cape Town – City Sightseeing, Wine Tasting, Signal Hill & Atlantis Dunes
Cape Town is truly a world class destination. It is one of those beautiful cities that can be confidently compared with cities in Europe filled with state of the art sights and attractions worthy to be explored by the world. The Mother City just has it all. Please check out our full Cape Town Blog as this one is only touching on the dope activities we recommend you to explore as a first time tourist in Cape Town.
Firstly, our most favorite thing for us to do in Cape Town is to spend quality time laying on the beach “particularly Camps Bay”. We love having picnics on the beach whether we are taking in some sunrises or enjoying sunsets whilst listening to the sounds of the waves. This is so satisfying and costs absolutely nothing.
Cape Town City Sightseeing
Secondly, we definitely have to go for a boat ride. So in the past we would purchase the City Sightseeing tickets which includes the harbor boat cruise. The Cape Town City cruise is very formal where you get ear phones to listen to the commentary as the boat cruises through the harbor. I enjoy this cruise as one gets to learn quite a bit and it is more “touristy”, this cruise costs R60 per person. However, we decided to try a private boat for last Cape Town visit and Boy! What an upgrade. This is more like a yacht and there is such a vibe on this boat. The latest music is played on this cruise and the key element is that they allow us to bring our alcoholic beverages and they also sell alcohol on board for us to sip and cheers as we sail away. The boat is a 2 story boat and let me tell you……you want to be up stairs and feel that wind blow through your hair for yourself. The cruise is about an hour but it’s a definite must do in my books.
Wine Tasting in Constantia Kloof
Thirdly, Wine tasting is a definite must do. We explored a wine farm in Constantia Kloof called “Groot Constantia”. This was our second time there and it was good. The only disadvantage in our experience was that one is not allowed to book a table prior, they work on a first come first serve basis. Anyway, we went there on a Sunday and it was very full when we arrived around 11:30 am. We were assisted in about an hour with a table and our tasting started shortly after we were seated. We chose to sample 5 different wines and we enjoyed all the ones we selected. We did feel like they could have more sommeliers on busy days as our sommelier was assisting a couple of tables so we felt that we were a tad rushed during our tasting. It is a beautiful farm and we would love to visit again. We love that we get to keep our wine glass as a souvenier.

Sunset Experience from Signal Hill
Fourthly, a very unique sunset experience at Signal Hill. So this one requires patience as the drive up to Signal hill on the Hop on Hop off bus is a very busy one as it is right around traffic hour. Once you arrive there it is so worth it. Basically the experience is getting to Signal Hill with your little picnic basket to enjoy whilst you take in the breath-taking sunset. We enjoyed this as we also got to meet like minded people.
Atlantis Dunes
Our fifth activity is definitely the Atlantis Dunes…the quad biking to be precise. Ohh! This is our absolute fav’. We booked with a company called Wild X Adventures and this cost R1000.00 with permits per person excluding transportation to the Atlantis, but it is so exhilarating to experience. We had a 14:00 slot and were instructed to arrive 30 minutes prior to get the safety rules and regulations. It was a super hot summer day, perfect for our ride in the sand dunes. Once we were in motion it was pure bliss for us. We loved every minute of it.
The experience is for an hour and you have a guide with you the entire time because you can either get lost in the dunes or worse…have issues with your quad bike. The quad biking in Atlantis Dunes tops our list and is a definite must do again for us. We felt so free with not stop signs, just the dunes for us to explore.
The city has so much more to offer like Table Mountain and Robben Island, this is just a few activities we enjoyed on our last visit. We will sure explore more the next time.
