What to Pack for Your Mozambique Vacation

Ultimate Packing List for a Trip to Mozambique

Mozambique has always been on our bucket list for bae and I, and after many postponements, it seems that dream is about to be realised. While super excited about the trip, and talking about what we want to do while we are there, the question of what to pack has popped up. What does one pack for a vacation to Mozambique?

The last thing we want is to get to Mozambique and realise that we have left certain things that we need for our vacation, so we were eager to do our own research on what we needed to pack, and what worked for us. Certain things are a must for everyone to pack when visiting Mozambique, and other things will depend on your preference.

What to Pack for Mozambique: Clothing

  • Shirt/Blouse: Pack lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that will help you stay comfortable and cool, especially if you are going to be spending a lot of time at the beach. Also, bring shorts and t-shirts   . . . in a nutshell comfortable clothes that will accomodate the heat in Mozambique. And swimsuits galore!
  • Comfortable Shoes: If you are planning to do some walking, then we highly recommend that you pack some comfortable walking shoes. Long walks in uncomfortable shoes will take away the fun and enjoyment out of your walks.
  • Sandals/Flops: Sandals or flipflops are a must. They are ideal for those beautiful walks at the beach.
  • Umbrella: This is a must for the rainy season, as it might be a little unpredictable, and you want to be better prepared. Unless you want that dancing in the rain experience.

What to Pack for Mozambique: Travel Gear

  • Camera: Depending on the footage that you are looking to get, a camera can be a necessity for your trip. Otherwise you can just use your phone, most phones take pretty decent pictures nowadays. Also, different cameras for different activities, a Gopro would work for action packed filming and a waterproof camera for shooting activities that need to be in the water.
  • Power Adapter: Take your own plugs so you don’t have to rely on the hotel/resort/your accommodation.
  • Portable Charger: A power bank is a must, super helpful for those instances where your phone battery is not enough/can’t go the distance.
  • Memory cards for lots of photos. As content creators, this is a must for us.
  • Small Backpack: Makes carrying all your necessary stuff easily.

What to Pack for Mozambique: Your Documents

  • Passport: You need to have a valid passport, that has pages on it, that is valid for 6 months after the end of your trip.
  • Travel Insurance: Travel insurance if you can afford it. It needs to cover the duration of your trip.
  • Drivers License: You need to have a valid driver’s license and your vehicle registration papers.
  • Car Insurance: A letter from your insurance company stating that the vehicle you are driving is insured.

What to Pack for Mozambique: Toiletries

  • Sun Screen: Mozambique is hot for most of the year, so you need that sunscreen to make sure that your skin is protected everytime you go out to the sun.
  • Mosquito Repellent: Mozambique is a high malaria area, so bring some mosquito repellant, like Peaceful Sleep or Tabat.

What to Pack for Mozambique: Medications

No one anticipates getting sick while on holiday, but it’s better to be prepared than not.

  • Allegex: This is to help you deal with any reactions that you might have on your trip, that your body can’t sort out by itself.
  • Anti-Malaria Pills: Mozambique is a high-risk-malaria zone, so make sure that you have anti-malarial pills with you for your trip.
  • Sanitizer: Just to keep your hands sanitized and clean, and to keep the bacteria at bay.
  • Vitamins: Make sure you always pack vitamins, your immune system needs to be as strong as can be.

Hope this packing list for Mozambique is helpful  . . . the idea is to pack all the essentials and everything else that you may need for your vacation. After all, you are meant to go there for fun, relaxation and enjoy the beauty that is Mozambique!
