What to Pack for Your Trip to Cape Town
Looking to go on a vacation to Cape Town, and wondering what to pack for the trip? If so, you have come to the right place.
A vacation is a time to relax, reset and recharge, however planning a trip and travelling can be quite stressful. You have to think of what you are going to need, to enjoy your vacation to the fullest, and to do that properly, you need to think of your itinerary and activities that you are looking to do as well as places that you are looking to visit.
Bae and I have been to Cape Town twice together . . . if you have been following us for a bit, you would know that it’s our favourite city, because it is where we got engaged.
A vacation in Cape Town is something that we highly recommend, it is one of the most beautiful and popular cities in the world, and for a couple like us, it really feels like home because it is gay friendly.

What you are going to pack when you go to Cape Town will depend on when you are going. For example, we would only do Cape Town in the summer, becaue we want to be at the beach, in shorts and in the water (including being inside the pool). So for us, this is what we typically have in our bags:
- Summer clothing . . . lot’s of shorts, tshirts, sandals – you get the drift.
- Bathing suits
- Sun hat, sunscreen
- Comfortable shoes
- A warm jacket – Cape Town’s weather is weird, it can pretty change at any moment
- Long pants for when it gets chilly
- Good walking shoes . . . if you are looking to do some walking, or hiking
- Sunglasses
- Powerbanks
- Plug adaptors and chargers
- Medication

And of course, Cape Town is a very beautiful city, so there are many opportunities for content. That means, we have to pack our camera, gimbal, tripod and memory card, just in case.
The great thing is that should you forget something, you pretty much can buy it when you get to Cape Town, just because of the many shops that are available.
If you are like me and prefer to swipe for everything, just make sure you have a bit of cash, just in case. Not too much, just R250, at most R500 will be eough, as you can use your card for just about everything.
Like I said, your itinerary will determine what you should pack, but hopeflly this guide is useful for you.
If you are an international traveller, then nothing is more important than packing your travel documentation, everything else comes secondary in this case.
