Celebrating the Tiktok at Sama 28 Partnership
So we attended a dope event this past Thursday. Yeap, it was the TikTok Sama Nominations event. We were super excited when we received our invitation and knew it would be a great event…and that it was.
TikTok has fast become one of our favorite social media platform as of late purely because the more we spend time on the platform, the more we realize how much TikTok rewards authenticity. We are seeing how people from all different walks of life and unique talents are able to build a community and grow to incredible heights on this platform. We are talking about anything from fashions enthusiasts, homemade chefs, dancers, comedians and so many more entertainers that have managed to create careers from the exposure they receive on TikTok, and we are just trying to find our little corner on there as well.
Thursday finally came and it was time for the event, we totally loved the fact that it was a day event. We left home at 10am and arrived at the event just after 10:30. Ohh! It was vibey, all the talented personalities that filled the space with their energetic auras and charismatic styles…we just knew it was about to go down.
The venue itself is full of character. Katy’s Palace Bar is a unique space with eclectic mix of furnishings and décor, fine arts from across the globe. This is every creators dream as everywhere we looked was an opportunity to capture. TikTok had their branding elegantly placed by the entrance and just as you walk into the room, the beautiful stage catches your eye…Truly a prestigious event.
The event was hosted by the talented Alphi Sipho who kept all of us entertained with his humor and amazing Mc’ing charm. We had the pleasure of experiencing a live performance by Nomfundo Moh. This super star serenated us with her hit tracks such as Soft Life.
Let’s just say none of us could stay seated as we sang along and burst a few moves. Nomfundo Moh is actually nominated for the SAMA’s and am certainly voting.

While we celebrated the nominated 10 songs, the food was just flowing ever so frequently and it was just so visually appealing and delicious too. We loved how they were serving different finger foods such as burgers, cheese and crackers, cous cous salad, spinach kish, carrot cake and other yummy treats. The Gin bar was popping and the drinks were definitely flowing. We were all fed and had a pretty drink in hand at all times.
We loved meeting and interacting with the team behind TikTok South Africa. The fact that it is mostly young women who are running the show was absolutely amazing to hear. They are truly doing an amazing job and knowing that TikTok as a company is giving such opportunities to females is incredible.
In closing, this was a great event and definitely an amazing opportunity to network. The ambiance, venue, food and people were amazing and we were entertained the entire time that we were there. The gift bags that were filled with TikTok goodies such as a note pad, selfie ring lights and power bank was a cherry on top. This was definitely worth the day out from work, well done TikTok.
