Sunday Lunch at The Shed and Silo Country Restaurant in Benoni
We spent a day, on a Sunday at the beautiful countryside restaurant in Benoni, called The Shed and Silo. While staying in the North is always hailed as the “It” location if one is in Johannesburg, there’s always some gems that are super worth it in other parts of Gauteng, and The Shed and Silo is undoubtedly one of these.
I am sure you have heard the saying “Sunday is for lovers” a couple of times, and as someone who is happily in a relationship, Sunday is just a day to take it easy, relax and connect with my bae.
Most Sundays, if we are not home relaxing, cooking and resetting, we either go to the market, we usually do the Prison Break market in Midrand or the Fourways Farmers market in Modderfontein, but this time we had been wanting to try out this spot, and we were presently surprised.
In short, we loved it!
The Shed and Silo is on the outskirts of Benoni, on 77 Thomas Rd, Norton’s Home Estates, Benoni.
When we got there, it was packed, and now we know that booking is definitely a good idea for the next time we decide to go there (we will definitely be doing this place again), with some friends or family the second time around.
It is a beautiful vast piece of land, that gives you vibes of being in the country side, out of the city, which is perfect for when you are looking for that time out, away from the city, away from the noise and the hustle.
As I said earlier, it was packed, so we had to be seated at a waiting area, where we ordered our drinks and took it all in. We opted for a Malfy cocktail and the strawberry infused drink (I forgot the name!), we didn’t feel like our normal drinks, which would’ve been a cider for me and a glass of wine for bae.
It was scotching hot, so we figured some cocktails would be great to cool us down.
After our cocktails arrived, we waited just a few more minutes, and a table became available at the main restaurant area.
Ince we settled, we ordered our food, I ordered a pasta dish (just forgot which one it is) and my partner ordered The Shed burger. The pasta was super delicious, I give it an 8/10.
The pasta was soo good, I told bae to taste it, and as soon as she did that, it was game over, because she pretty much took over my food, and didn’t really want to continue eating her burger. The burger ended up being packed as a takeaway for later.
I want to share a bit about the actual restaurant, the venue.
The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, so whatever your preference is, or whatever the weather is like, you can still have plenty of fun, and enjoy your meal to the fullest. There is lots of shade for the hot summer months, so if you love nature and a bit of a breezy vibe, then you totally would love being outside.
The interior decor at the Shed and Silo is also worth talking about. There are plants everywhere, that includes the cute plants that are placed on each table, and there’s also those that are hanging from the top.
We chose to sit inside, at the main restaurant area, because we just couldn’t resist. There is open spaces, and the huge glass all around that gives an incredible view of the outside scenery, which makes the dining experience even better.
We loved the place so much, we didn’t realize how quickly the time flew. \
As we were taking it all in, and enjoying everything, we noticed even more people starting to arrive, but this time, the vibe was different because they were all in a cowboy theme. Then we realised that there was a wedding scheduled for that night.
So not only is it a great venue for good food, great company, a good outdoorsy vibe, it is a wedding venue!
Would we recommend the Shed and Silo? YES, that’s an absolute resounding YES!

On the property, there are also some shops, including a bakery, some fresh produce and one selling cushions, ottomans to mention just a few.
In all honesty, it was a wholesome day spent, we will definitely be going back.
If the Shed and Silo is your kind of vibe, and if you needed a cute wholesome place to get out of the city and experience something a little different, worth remembering, then you should check it out.
The Shed & Silo is open Tuesday to Sunday from 8am-4pm.
