Our Sibani Lodge Experience in Cradle of HumanKind
2 years into our wonderful relationship, countless memories later, happily engaged to be married . . . One thing is for certain here, we had a lot to celebrate . And so for our anniversary, we decided to go glamping at the Cradle of Humankind (Krugersdorp).
Sibani Lodge Experience for our 2nd Anniversary
As the anniversary was fast approaching we were so indecisive about where we would eventually book our mini staycation. Xihla wanted a city break in one of the hotels in the North of Johannesburg as she did not want to drive far. I was dead set on a bush break as always, I wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just escape to
somewhere serene and aloof with my partner. Sibani Lodge/ tented resort in Krugersdorp was definitely top of the list as we have been wanting to explore it for a while. We eventually booked our tented accommodation at the Sibani Lodge and started packing.
We both new that all we wanted from this getaway was to just relax, take in the beauty of our surroundings and love on each other. Our drive down was pretty scenic, we loved that it was only 1hr30 minutes from the city. We had both never been to the Cradle of Humankind area which was really beautiful to experience as a couple. We arrived there around 14:00 for check in and were met by a very large but beautiful ostrich that sat in the middle of the road and blocked our way. That was a lovely welcome and we know we were definitely on holiday. Sibani Lodge is located in the vast and beautiful Mount Savannah Game Reserve, so we knew we were in for a treat.
Check in was quick and easy, a gentle man was awaiting us at the tented area entrance and showed us to the parking. He politely greeted us and showed us to our tent. We both thought out tent had a lot of character with it’s vintage themed furniture. We loved the shower and the large steady bed with crisp white linen….but the star of the show was definitely the out door hot tub that was already being prepped for us to enjoy during sunset.
We opted to purchase our own dinner on our way as we wanted to spend more time in private. We enjoyed our sushi on the deck overlooking the large stretch of unpolluted land. The Ostrich was enjoying our company as it was chilling with us the entire time. We popped a bottle of bubbly as it was fitting for the occasion and just enjoyed some time taking in our beautiful surroundings.
Our hot tub was ready and we were just so excited to hop in…Ohh! Just total tub heaven, it was. We just soaked the evening away from watching the sunset to gazing at the gorgeous stars whilst whispering sweet nothings to each other. It was truly a romantic evening. The manager came to officially greet us whilst we enjoying the Hot tub and wished us a great evening, which we thought was a nice gesture.
The next morning we woke up to the sounds of what seemed like two wild animals fighting, we loved it (mostly me). We spent a bit more time just enjoying the space and eventually got ready for breakfast. We unfortunately did not enjoy their breakfast, it was dry and we were not offered any options or juice.
It was time for my favorite thing to do, which is the Safari drive….Ohh and it was lovely. Sibani Lodge truly has a beautiful property and loved seeing their water bucks, Giraffes, impalas and Kudus. The Tour guide was very informative and very funny. We also got to go down the caves where they say jackals hide out, We enjoyed that element of danger.

What we Loved Most About Sibani Lodge
Sibani Lodge is outside the city, that already gives it a thumbs up. The location is beautiful, secluded, private, and it’s definitely a place to go to be surrounded by nature.
The people were friendly, and of course, the bathtub for us was the star of the show.
The rates include accommodation, breakfast and a game drive.
Sibani Lodge is beautiful and we will always remember it as we spent our 2nd anniversary there, we would not go back though, but do think it’s worth a visit.
