Our First Date at Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Lodge, Muldersdift

If you have read our love story of how we met . . . you would already know that we fell deeply in love with each other, very very quickly.

As bae and I met during lockdown, we were quite limited at the time with the things that we could do, and when you add Covid 19 paranoia into the equation, we tried to spend as much time indoors as possible. But when the opportunity arose for us to do something presented itself, I knew I wanted it to be something outdoorsy, and something B would love.

A friend couple of mine were celebrating their 4th year anniversary in August 2020, which is also my birhday month, and we kind of spoke about how it would be nice to do something together to celebrate. And we decided that this would be a day out at Cradle Moon Lakeside Lodge, in Muldersdrift.

So, Busi had no idea that I had even planned anything, I just told her that we needed to go somewhere on the Saturday morning, and I tried to give a clue about where this entailed and stuff just so she could dress appropriately. I completely underestimated the time factor, because like most women, B is late a lot of the time (she’s going to kill me for this).

Anyway, Saturday came and we were on our way to Muldersdrift. We were late, traffic and construction on the road made it even worse. I also had no clue about how packed Cradle Moon would be, and so by the time we got to the game drive, the other couples were waiting for us, grumpy and all . . . naturally. We said our hello’s and apologised profusely and then it was time for the game drive.

It was a warm day, the sun was out and it was super cool engaging with the other couples, having snacks and just enjoying the game drive. Our game ranger was super knowledgeable about animals, and he would share nuggets of knowledge everytime we would see some animals. We saw zebras, giraffes, kudus, bucks, hartebees, springboks, hyenas, ostritch and more that I probably forgot. It was a wonderful day, and bae was soo happy. She later told me how the outing was a really dope surprise, and that I set quite a high bar. I think she was just super excited to be outside the house.

After the game drive, we proceeded to check out the Lake Heritage Waterfall . . . it was quite a sight. There were a lot of people, just enjoying it and taking pictures, and of course we joined in and got some snaps as well.

By then it was in the afternoon and we were starving. We decided to grab a bite at the restaurant on site. Unfortunately it was super packed, and we couldnt even get a table. After spending some few minutes at the ‘beach’, we decided to go to a separate location for lunch and drinks.

P.S this date happened back in 2020, only just documenting about it now. And some of the snaps that we took on the day got lost with the phone when it got stolen.

But nonetheless, here is a date idea for couples that you could enjoy in your relationship.
