Our Dining Experience at Mezepoli Restaurant, Melrose Arch
We were celebrating bae’s birthday when I did some research on great restaurants to try out and stumbled across Mezepoli Restaurant in Melrose Arch. The Mezepoli philosophy is to live in the present moment and experience the simple yet beautiful pleasures life has to offer . . . and that’s exactly what we did on that Saturday afternoon. We decided to take some time out to enjoy a meal, in open space over a glass of wine and just relax and celebrate my baby’s birthday.
Mezepoli Melrose Arch: First Impression
When I did my research, I already knew from online reviews and how popular it seemed to be that I needed to book, and boy was I glad we had a reservation. When we got to Mezepoli Restaurant, it was packed and I understood why. The space is beautifully designed and it is right there in the center of Melrose Arch, and with their outdoor space, it’s easy to see why people love it for occasions, with family or friends.
The tables are well spaced out, and I loved that we could sit outside and enjoy the breeze and the vibe at Melrose Arch. The restaurant comes highly recommended, so we were excited to try it out . . . especially because we were celebrating something special.
The lady who was checking our reservation was friendly, and once they confirmed our booking, we were ushered to our table.
Mezepoli Melrose Arch: Food & Drinks
Once seated, our waiter brought our menus, and of course we were ready to order our drinks. I ordered my normal cider and bae ordered a bottle of wine, the Mont du Toit Les Coteaux Cabernet Sauvignon. It just made sense to order a bottle than spend R77 for a glass of wine.
Looking at the menu, it was up to bae to order whatever she wanted, and as a huge sushi lover, she started with the shrimp tempura roll. We also love chicken wings and chips, so we just had to order that as well.
We also tried the beef fillet saute – cubes of beef fillet, sauteed with fresh peppers and onion in a wine white sauce.
The shrimp tempura roll was delicious . . . it didn’t disappoint, the only regret was not ordering another portion. Chicken wings and chips never disappoint, and bae and I both didn’t enjoy the beef fillet saute.
Final Thoughts
Mezepoli Restaurant was a good experience for us, and we are very happy that we got to experience it. Having had that experience, we are excited that we have ticked it off our to-do list. Should we chose to do Mezepoli again, we will definitely opt for the prawns and the lamb chops.
We would definitely do the sushi again.
