Date Ideas for Lesbian Couples

Dates are important for lesbian couples, at any stage of the relationship . . . and if you are looking for some date ideas for lesbians, you have come to the right place. We have put together some beautiful date ideas that we are hoping you will love, and we have included date ideas that will not break the bank.

Whether you have been together for a long time, or you are looking to go on your first date, we hope these date ideas can get you started and get you thinking of ways that you and your partner can spend more quality time doing things you both like.

You might not have seen or read the article on our first date together back in 2020 a few months after we met. My baby loves the outdoors, and Covid 19 was still a really huge thing, so I arranged for us to go on a game drive at Cradle Moon Lakeside Lodge and she absolutely loved it. Since then, we have been on a ton of dates, and we will share with you some of the best ones:

Romantic Date Ideas for Lesbian Couples

Cook For them/Together

There is something very beautiful about cooking for her, and if the both of you love and appreciate food, this can be a very great idea for a date. Through conversation, you will know what dishes she likes or meals that she enjoys, and you literally can put something together for her. Do your research and find the best recipe online, get the ingredients at the grocery store of your choice, pick up a bottle of wine and you are good to go.

Going out is all good, but cooking takes things to a whole new level, because it’s more than just spending money. And women love being cooked for, because that shows a deeper level of caring and love.

Trust me, your efforts won’t go unnoticed!

Go to the Market Together

The market is a great idea for lesbian couples  . . . and in South Africa we have plenty of those. In Johannesburg, there are a few to try out, including the popular Fourways Farmers Market (which we have done a couple of times), Prison Break Market, The Neighbourhoods Market, Rosebank Sunday Market to mention just a few.

There’s just something beautiful about markets that is relaxing and calming. They are beautiful spaces where you can enjoy live performances, enjoy some food over a nice drink, where you can get enjoy each other over some fun and great conversations. Highly recommend this.

A Romantic Picnic for 2

Picnics are undoubtedly one of the best romantic date ideas for lesbians, for anyone actually, and they are easy to pull off. All you would need to do is pick a romantic spot (one of our favourite spots for a picnic is the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens), pack your picnic basket and you are good to go.

There’s something beautiful, romantic and calming about being in open space on a warm day, with your partner/date over some delicious nibbles while being surrounded by nature.

Try Out a New Restaurant

We love food, we love cooking it together but we also love trying out new restaurants. Research a new spot to try out, see what their menu entails, check some reviews online (if there are any) and decide on where you are going to go.

Don’t fall into the habit of eating at the same restaurant just because you love their food, look at it as a journey to finding another restaurant that you love, that you can add to your list.

Great restaurants may be costly at times, so you might want to save up a bit, if you have budget constraints.

Spa and Massage Night

Nothing screams quality time than intentionally spending time with your partner over a spa and massage session.  And before you start thinking about how expensive this can be . . . you can perfectly do this at the comfort of your home.

Set up a romantic turn up at your place, make sure you have flowers, candles, massage oils and some wine. Put on some romantic music, and prepare a beautiful hot bath over some wine. You can end the night with a beautiful sensual massage and get even more romantic later on.

Go on a Road Trip Together

Road trips are one of our favourite things to do, and they come highly recommended. There’s something really beautiful about being with someone you love on an open road, going to explore a place.

If you know us at all, you would know that we love travelling and exploring new places and spaces, and if we could, that is all we would do. You get to learn so much about your partner when you travel together, not to mention the great memories that you get to create.

Just head over to Google or Booking.com and do some research on some dope places that you can explore, and start making those plans.

Some of our road trips that we have done ended taking us to the Rosendal in the Free State, Maroelani Nature Reserve in Hoedspruit, Cosy Kosmos in Hartbeespoort to mention just a few.

Go on a Hike

If you are nature lovers, or just love being outdoors, then you definitely should try hiking together. Find a beautiful spot with scenic views, and you are good to go.

Not only is hiking a great way to spend time with your partner and bond, it’s a great way to be outdoors and get in some physical activity.

Just make sure that you have your water, your hat, a fruit and some sunscreen (or whatever else that you need).

Go Glamping

Glamping is great, especially for those of you who have always wanted to go camping, but not wanting to worry about creepy crawlies or having a proper shower. The solution is glamping!

Glamping is a great date idea for lesbians, because the locations are out of the city, with minimal distractions and zero TV. And glamping sites are beautiful, as you are surrounded by nature.

Bae and I have done quite a bit of glamping, such as when we did B’Sorah, or Sibani Lodge, or Africamps, so this is highly recommended as well.

Go Bowling

The first time I went bowling was with bae, and it was not something that was on my radar, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

You get to bond, share some laughs and just relax and enjoy each others company.

Go Wine Tasting

Wine tasting is a great date idea for lesbian couples. It gives you an idea to relax with your date, while you are doing something fun, getting to know them and just spending some quality time.
