Cosy Kosmos and Lion & Safari Park Experience in Hartbeespoort

Exploring Hartbeespoort and Kosmos in an Isuzu Rider 4×4

Hello Hartbeespoort  . . . a popular shotleft for us living in Johannesburg (or Pretoria), as it’s not a far drive from the city (about an hour away) but far enough to experience beauty and tranquility, and just be able to silence the noise. And that’s where you will find Cosy Kosmos . . . a tranquil bed and breakfast that is beautifully located next to Hartbeespoort Dam.

Cosy Kosmos Experience in Hartbeespoort

We love exploring beautiful cosy gems, and this is definitely one of the finds that we didn’t really expect as we had done Hartbeespoort a couple of times. So, on one this day we decided we needed to get away from the city after a hectic weekend of hosting our guests, and we were looking for a quick shotleft out of Johannesburg. That’s when we stumbled across Cosy kosmos . . . and given that it was during the week, the rates were great! So we booked . . . and we had no idea what was in-store.

We got there shortly after 14h00, as check-in is at 14h00 and we were met by a wonderful lady who ushered us in, and showed us to our room. The property was secure, clean and as the name suggests, very cosy. Our room was ensuite, with both a shower and a bath which was a bonus. And just as we were checking out the room, and marveling at how cute it was . . . the view caught our attention!

It was without a doubt one of the best views we had seen . . . overlooking the dam and put simply – it was breathtaking!

Given that the shotleft was a spur of the moment decision, we were extremely tempted to stay at the property and enjoy the view, but we had other plans. We have travelled to Hartbeespoort in the Isuzu 4×4, so we needed to take advantage of it. The plan was to go and have a picnic by the dam . . . and with our picnic basket and cooler box packed, off we went.

A picnic overlooking Hartbeespoort Dam

Our picnic overlooking the dam was absolutely beautiful . . . and romantic. Best of all, it was tranquil, and breathtaking!

We had everything we needed . . . snacks, cheese, chocolates, fruit and drinks. In all honesty it was one of the best ideas that we had executed and it’s definitely somthig I would do again! And despite the weather changing and becoming windy, it was one of the best experiences I ever had.

You know the saying time moves fast when you are having a great time . . .  and just like that it got dark and we had to head on back to Kosmos.

We had to check-out the very next day, and so we decided to explore even more. Since we had the Isuzu X-RIDER, we decided to go to the Lion & Safari Park for a self drive, something I had never done before. I always do a guided drive . . . but I was excited to see what this experience would be like!

Lion & Safari Park, Hartbeespoort

We left Kosmos with such beautiful memories, having rested in a beautiful place . . . I can’t even begin to tell you just breathtaking the view was at sunrise the next morning.

After breakfast, we were ready to say goodbye to this beautiful gem, and head on back to Johannesburg . . . but before that, we had an exciting stop at the Lion and Safari Park.

We got there around 12 pm . . . and after making payment, getting the map and having the rules explained to us, we were set.

The first animals that we saw were lions . . . and even if we didnt see anything else after that, our day was made! We drove around the compound for a good 2 to 3 hrs . . . and had a magnificent time looking at lions, zebras, giraffes, warthogs and so much more.

Would highly recommend this experience!
