Bae and I met in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic and we have never attended pride together. In fact, we have not really attended any type of event geared at my people, which makes me sad.
This past weekend we missed Queer Day, which we couldn’t attend because of work committments, which got me thinking that perhaps it’s time to attend our first pride together, which I haven’t done in over a decade.
With a commitment to uniting LGBTQ+ people across the continent of Africa, the Johannesburg Pride is a celebration of diversity taking place on the streets of South Africa’s biggest city. It also pays homage to the thriving gay scene that we have here, despite the hate and discrimination that we get.
The Joburg Pride is expected to have the march, a festival, live music, and after parties . . . so whatever your preference, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Johannesburg Pride 2022 is fast approaching . . . will you be there to celebrate? Bottom line, it’s going to be a celebration of all gender and sexual identities.
